Howard “Wood” Woodley, a gifted but drifting Caucasian sailor, lives aboard the ISSA, a sailboat named after Issa Perez, the Latina he never stopped loving. Haunted by memories of their past, Wood clings to dreams of reclaiming his former glory on the water while struggling with the fallout of his failed marriage to Barbara Ray (BR). His life takes an unexpected turn when a racing accident introduces him to Perla Perez, a talented young sailor who soon discovers she is Wood’s daughter, born from his long-ago relationship with Issa.
